La Traviata is an opera in three acts by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi that first premiered in La Fenice opera house in Venice on March 6, 1853. It is one of the cornerstones of operatic repertory and continues to be a favorite among the audiences and the musicians.
This legendary opera, by the National Opera of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko, presents a score filled with splendid melodies, and some of the most complicated arias in the soprano repertoire. The tense plot and striking characters paired with Verdi’s perfectly attuned music everybody will be wiping their tears away. La Traviata is also renowned as the opera that Richard Gere takes Julia Roberts to see in the famous movie Pretty Woman.
